The lirst six deal with the standard expenditure measure, the Gross Domestic Expenditure on Research and Experimental Development (GERD), which covers all R&D carried out on national territory in the year concerned. The pattern 01 linancing and 01 pertormance 01 GERD is shown in Tables 13 to 20. Resources devoted to R&D can also be measured in labour terms as shown in Tables 7 to 12 lor total R&D personnel and lor research scientists and engineers (RSE) or university graduates. AII such R&D personnel data is expressed in lull-time equivalent (FTE), i.e. a person working hall-time on R&D is counted as 0.5 person years.
